• CANON.

  school for the gifted:   this verse is set during the time john spent at xavier’s school for gifted youngsters, where he’d been a student since arriving at age 14 having recently been thrown out of his dysfunctional family for reasons not entirely related to being a mutant ( though that revelation certainly didn’t help matters ).  the brotherhood:   this verse is set anytime after john left the x-men to join magneto’s cause. angry at a world that constantly rejects him and disillusioned with his own superiority, the promise of power is a siren song to a kid who felt he never had any.  neither hero nor martyr:   this verse is set after the events of x-men: the last stand. john is one of the few survivors of the battle of alcatraz that wasn’t cured or jailed. he doesn’t know what the x-men did to keep the feds off his back ( or why they saved him to begin with ) but he now has to figure out who he is and what kind of person he wants to be now that the brotherhood - now that magneto - is gone.  free mutants:   this verse is set in the timeline leading up to the events of days of future past. the war on sentinels is coming and pyro knows he can either partner up and have a chance to survive, or burn out on his own. putting aside any lingering grudges, john joins the mutant resistance organization known as free mutants to help save mutantkind.  revised modern:   this verse is set in the modern day and follows the revised timeline created in dofp. john still ends up dropping out of xavier’s school but he’s not as angry nor misguided as he once was. over the years, he finds a way to put his best skills to work to legally irritate people as a journalist and eventually finds his niche writing a few of his own best-selling novels.  no more mutants:   this verse is set within the timeline of the logan movie. mutantkind is dying. the brotherhood is gone and the x-men are nothing more than stories on a page. pyro is dead; all that remains is st. john allerdyce, author and semi-retired journalist.  stuck in the void:   this verse follows the pyro variant introduced in deadpool & wolverine and is primarily set in the void. it starts when a strike from a sentinel that should have killed him doesn’t; pyro lives and his very act of survival brings the tva’s boot down upon his neck. he doesn’t get a chance to explain before he’s ripped from his world and tossed carelessly into the void, discarded to a hostile nothingness between realities as a punishment for surviving. the void is a wasteland but it’s not entirely lifeless. he finds a few others ( not from his reality but close enough to it ) and it doesn’t take long before he’s recruited by cassandra nova. like clockwork or a bad cosmic joke, pyro finds himself as the right hand man of yet another unstable crusader. over the years ( is it years? he can never tell time in this place ) he assists nova in recruiting other mutants who’ve found themselves on the wrong end a pruning stick but it drains him. cassandra isn’t like charles. hell, she isn’t even like magneto. usually he enjoys a bit of chaos but cassandra’s a type of crazy even pyro can’t predict. he wants a way out, wants to find a way back to his old life, and he’ll find one – by any means necessary.

• AU.

  the gods deserve to burn:   this verse is set within the percy jackson universe. st john allerdyce arrived at camp halfblood when he was 14 years old, alone and angry, with a lighter clutched to his chest and a trail of scorched earth and burning monsters in his wake. the only thing surprising about him being claimed as a son of hephaestus was that it took the god of fire nearly two months to do it. a runaway with no family to return to, john is quickly established as a year-round camper. he’ll spend the next three years at the camp before everything goes to shit: when the lightning thief kickstarts a war against the gods, john realizes that maybe the gods deserve to burn after all.  burning bridges with the devil:   this verse is set within the the boys / gen v universe. st. john allerdyce used to be a student at godolkin university. despite having somewhat of a rebellious streak, he’d been a promising student, easily making the top fifteen list in his first year and climbing to the top five in year two. vought had been making him promises but were reluctant to pull the trigger since it wasn’t too long ago that lamplighter had joined the seven and the board weren’t too sure on how another hero with fire powers would play at the polls. ultimately the choice was made not to do anything that would draw attention away from the seven or diminish their originality so john was deemed unprofitable. when told this ( in so many sugarcoated words ) john finally realized that vought was full of shit. instead of letting himself be delegated to some shit firewatch job in the middle of nowhere, he dropped out and went off the radar. it wasn’t until the incident at sage grove and the clusterfuck at herogasm that he’s finally reared his head again, looking for answers. since his departure from godU, he’s found work as a journalist and has been collecting whatever evidence against the company he could find for years. despite the fact that any hit piece he’s tried to publish has been shot dead in the water, he’s never been one to back down from a challenge.

  comics (616):   this verse focuses on the classic aussie pyromaniac we all know and love. gothic novelist, former member of the brotherhood and freedom force. died for a while but he got better. now an ex-marauder trying to navigate how to be good and not blow his second chance at life. this verse is heavily inspired by st. john's 80/90s comic appearances when it comes to his personality / characterization but i'm willing to write in all eras, including the current run of x-factor (dislaimer: this verse is subject to become canon divergent as the series progresses). fc: freddie fox.  bayville brotherhood:   this verse is based on the x-men: evolution animated show. st. john's backstory in this verse is actually a mix of 616 and film; he was born and raised in sydney, australia until he was 18, at which point he was recruited by magneto to serve as one of his acolytes. when that team eventually disbanded, he would become a future member of scarlet witch's brotherhood. fc: animated / tbd.
